GetResponse Review: What You Need To Know
Here’s what you’ve all been waiting for. GetResponse’s core features will be reviewed to see if they’re a good fit for you.
Getresponse Email Marketing
It’s easy to create your first email with GetResponse. A lot of thought has gone into the user experience. Creating your first email will take less than 10 minutes, and is very intuitive.
Design your first email with GetResponse
By creating a free account, you can immediately begin designing your email. There are over 120+ email templates available when you click on ‘Design message’. That’s great!
There are seven categories of email templates available in GetResponse. You can educate, promote, and welcome your customers, for instance.
If you like an email template, you can save it and reuse it later under the “My templates” tab.
In the email builder, you begin customizing your email after choosing a template.
There are a lot of features in GetResponse’s email editor, but it doesn’t get overwhelming. Whenever you need an editing option, it is displayed. All in all, it’s very intuitive.
HTML code lovers can start from scratch or an HTML design, but it isn’t necessary. Inside the drag-and-drop template builder, there is also an option for creating custom HTML blocks.
Drag & drop email editor features
Your email’s layout is determined in the layout section. You can effortlessly configure how many columns, primary colors, etc., you want. Blocks of content can be edited mainly by dragging and dropping.
In addition, you can add:
- Text, Images, and Buttons
- Youtube Videos
- Whitespace and margins
- Shareable social media links, and
- Custom HTML
You can save blocks and sections of the email editor and reuse the same elements for headers, footers, and some text/images combos. You can re-use these templates in your next email to save time.
The process of adding images and videos is a straightforward process. Choose from GetResponse’s collection of free stock images or drag and drop your own image!
The video will be embedded when you enter the (Youtube) link in the email.
This is just the beginning… From your online store, you can add products to your email under the eCommerce tab.
If you link with your e-commerce platform like Shopify, the products will appear right there. For an additional touch, you can even add a ‘recommended products’ section.
Getting the most out of your email
All of the email’s components are created on one page. To send it, add subject lines, the sender’s email address, and the appropriate email list.
You can track eCommerce interactions with GetResponse email tracking.
It is possible to track what your readers do after they click on the links in your emails. Google Analytics integration works with both GetResponse tracking snippets and GetResponse tracking snippets.
You can determine which campaigns drive revenue and sales with eCommerce tracking and can substantiate your marketing costs.
GetResponse Email Automation
A GetResponse autoresponder is the building block of automation. Creating the emails is similar to creating a newsletter, but then you trigger them to be sent as autoresponders.
You can schedule email delivery using the scheduling feature. If you prefer, you can send the email right away, after a few hours, or at a specific time and date.
The autoresponder won’t go out on days you don’t want it to, like weekends.
The ‘time travel’ toggle feature is the best. By enabling this option, the email will be delivered according to the recipient’s local time.
Now let’s take a closer look at marketing automation features.
Marketing Automation Tools
Marketing automation is GetResponse’s strong suit. Because of the automation workflows, it is a great email marketing platform for SMBs.
It is hard not to fall in love with GetResponse marketing automation when the moment you open the automation menu and see this navigation bar.
Menus like this are marketer’s dreams. Automation templates are available for each of these submenus. Due to our review, I am creating you a ‘welcome’ automation.
Creating a customer welcome automation
In order to welcome my new customers, you’ll need to create automation. As a starting point, you use a pre-made automation template. And after a few clicks, you’ll have something like this or maybe even better than this:
Quite impressive, I must say. You’ll see that majority of GetResponse’s work has been done for you when you zoom in on the automation flow. Changing everything the way you want is easy.
The automation editor has conditions and actions. For instance, when a customer buys something from you (condition), you trigger an email (action).
Sending a welcome email should be your first step. It is unlimited how many emails and conditions you can add.
For this email campaign, I’ve created a flow where my new customers get two emails in two days.
Then, for my convenience, I separate customers who clicked on my email. Once the campaign starts, GetResponse keeps track of all of this automatically. 😍
8.5/10 is my score for GetResponse automation. The possibilities can be overwhelming at first, so it takes a bit of time to become familiar with them.
The power lies in being able to build complete customer journeys once you have done that. Personalize emails, build customer profiles, and create your own automations.
Getresponse Automation Workflows
With GetResponse you can create automation workflows for:
- Qualifying leads
- Post-purchase notifications
- Engagement and retention
- Triggers for abandoned carts
- Online courses and webinars
- Sales promotion, and
- Marketing through affiliate programs
I have just given a few examples. You can create your own automations with precision by tweaking the pre-built automation templates.
Now let’s get started with the funnel builder. Another way to describe a marketing campaign is with a funnel. In other words, that includes forms, emails, SMS, landing pages, etc.
When you create a conversion funnel with GetResponse, you can choose between the following options:
- Build your email list (or leads)
- Sell products
- Promote a webinar
GetResponse offers 17 lead magnet templates to get you started. You can create your funnel once you’ve selected your lead magnet
Guided funnel building is used throughout the entire process. Each step is explained so you don’t forget anything.
GettingResponse, for example, directs you to a thank you page template and reminds you not to forget one. Now this sounds great. Doesn’t it?
How to create a conversion funnel
You will start by creating a landing page for signups. You can choose a template, tweak your copy, and publish the page.
Next, you’ll create the thank-you page, followed by an email promotion. This is an email you need to send out to promote your new funnel.
Using Facebook ads to promote your funnel is a great idea. Connect your Facebook account with GetResponse and it will work. It’s as simple as that!
Your funnel can be cranked up to maximum conversion by adding more emails, forms, and pages.
In the final step, you get all the information you need to monitor the progress of your campaign.
From the conversion dashboard, you can view signup rates, contact numbers, page views, and success rates. It’s way too easy!
Lead magnet funnels and leads can be created with the Email Marketing plan. You’ll be required to upgrade to a higher plan if you want more features and abandoned cart recovery.
You can design a whole funnel in one dashboard and track essential statistics at the same time. It makes navigating the GetResponse funnel builder a breeze.
Post the COVID outburst; Webinars are the next thing happening. With GetResponse, you can conduct webinars as part of your email marketing campaign.
In addition, setting up a webinar is a breeze.
Once you have selected your title, you need to enter the time, the date, and the duration of your webinar.
You can then select the contact list to which your registrants will be added. Autoresponders can be set up for registrants to receive right after signing up.
GetResponse will create a webinar link after everything is set up to drive people to your webinars.
Keep track of webinar performance, send invitations to your contacts, and manage other webinars.
It was a good experience using the webinar tool. You can keep the audience engaged with its interactive features. Among them are chat, polls, Q&A, and whiteboards.
You can live-share your screen if you want to demonstrate a feature or product. If you have to sell a product, you can immediately add a call to action in the webinar.
Those who already use email marketing and webinars on different platforms will appreciate GetResponse’s ability to integrate both.
Your event’s chat pod and global settings are accessible to you. Event management is done through the GetResponse app. In addition, you can give a webinar on the go with their mobile app.
GetResponse recently added a website builder to their platform.
Using templates or the ‘AI powered builder’, you can build a website. GetResponse’s AI-powered builder creates a personalized website by answering a few questions.
Among the other options for building a website are:
- Widgets (chat boxes, forms, price tables, etc.)
- Website themes and colors, and
- Adding logos and images
You’ll be able to create a decent homepage in just 5 minutes of playing around with the builder.
The builder allows you to edit everything on the page. In addition to changing fonts and text sizes, adding/removing images, repositioning elements, and adjusting padding, you can also change the layout.
Adding and editing pages on the website can be done through a separate menu. You can customize the navigation bars, headers, and footers. If you select a section in the drag-and-drop editor, you will be able to customize it further.
As with the email and landing page editors, the menus look exactly the same.
Landing Page Builder
All Getresponse plans include the landing page builder for free. There are currently 198 templates available in the landing page builder.
In all honesty, I’d stick with the newest 100 templates, some of the older ones look really outdated.
You can start editing your landing page after choosing a template. Compared to the email creator, editing is a different experience.
Text, images, videos, buttons, and other drag-and-drop elements are available in the single-column menu on the right.
In the beginning, I thought that the icons should be labelled. It won’t take you long to figure out what is what and grab the right elements after experimenting with them a bit.
One of my favorite things about the landing page builder is you can design A/B variants of your landing page from the word go.
You can create as many variants and thank-you pages as you like in the top left corner.
Landing page setup
Once you’re satisfied with your page design, you can add settings for SEO, URLs, and email lists.
My favorite part is probably what follows. Your landing pages should be tracked using analytics and web events as you do with your emails.
Tracking landing pages can be done using any analytics platform. All of these are integrated with GetResponse: Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, Kissmetrics, etc.
It is easy to create landing pages with the landing page builder. There are always some software programs specialized for landing pages with more fancy features.
If GetResponse updated its builder and added more templates, they would be on par with other tools.
As far as landing pages go, I still recommend GetResponse because you can link them to webinars, funnels, and automations.
Other GetResponse features worth mentioning are:
- SMS marketing
- Web push notifications
- Paid ads, and
Therefore, GetResponse offers more than just email marketing. You can create complete conversion funnels to convert visitors into customers.
However, the story doesn’t end here. Customer support and pricing plans are important factors to consider when reviewing an email marketing platform. So, let’s start with that now.
GetResponse Customer Support
Live chat and email are two ways to get in touch with GetResponse’s support team. 24 x7x365, they provide live chat support.
If you have any questions about GetResponse’s products, the company offers an extensive help center.
Beginners can get started with the guide. Each feature can be configured and used according to the instructions in the articles.
Then you can improve your marketing automation and email marketing using case studies.
There are 26 languages available on the GetResponse platform. It is possible to contact customer service in a variety of languages.
There is usually a quick respond and are helpful. As of now the phone support is only available with the Max plan, which is a minor downside.
GetResponse Pricing & Plans
For smaller businesses, GetResponse offers three plans: Email Marketing, Marketing Automation, and eCommerce Marketing.
Their enterprise offerings MAX and MAX2 offer more advanced marketing features and dedicated support.
The following is a breakdown of their cost for 1000 contacts…
- New Pricing for GetResponse’s Email Marketing plan starts at $15.58, based on the size of your email list of UPTO 1000 contacts.
- New Pricing for GetResponse’s Marketing Automation plan starts at $48.38, based on the size of your email list of UPTO 1000 contacts.

GetResponse is compatible with:
- Popular eCommerce platforms like Shopify

- Builders for landing pages and popups

You can also use Zapier to connect GetResponse with your own integration using the GetResponse API.

- Creating webinar funnels
- Large collection of templates
- Advanced marketing automation features
- One month free trial without credit card
- 24x7x365 chat and email support

Getresponse Email Marketing Alternatives
It is true that GetResponse has many competitors. What makes Getrespones different from other marketing tools? Alternatives include:
Small and medium businesses will find SendinBlue to be a good choice, but enterprises may not. The price is reasonable. In most cases, the tools will be sufficient for most users but compared to GetResponse, its features are limited.
There is a free plan offered by both companies. GetResponse is free up to 500 contacts, while Sendinblue is free up to 300 emails per day.
The ActiveCampaign service combines marketing automation with sales CRM. The automation features of ActiveCampaign are more powerful, and the pricing is similar.
Aside from email, forms, and landing pages, ActiveCampaign offers lead scoring, messaging, SMS, and chat.
With MailerLite, you can send emails at an affordable price. Mailerlite offers better-looking templates and is cheaper than GetResponse. There are fewer features than GetResponse, for instance no webinars.
